- RHI scandal not on Executive meeting agenda
- Sinn Fein look weak
- Has Claire Sugden sold her principles?
Ulster Unionist Leader, Mike Nesbitt MLA, said:
“It is beyond belief that the RHI scandal is not on the agenda for this week’s Executive meeting.
“At a minimum, don’t the others want a briefing from Simon Hamilton on the alleged plan he told the media he was working on last Thursday to mitigate the damage?
“Are Sinn Féin going to tolerate £400m of wasted money? They seemed willing to risk everything to stop welfare reform hurting the vulnerable. Now they look so weak they are prepared to prop up a Minister who made the biggest mistake in the history of the country’s government.
“And what has Claire Sugden got to say? The Justice Minister once famously said:
‘This house of cards is falling, and good will come of that only if the jokers at the top come crashing down too and do not get up again.’
and
‘one side of the House, the largest political party has decided that its dirty, inconsistent mess is more important than moving Northern Ireland forward.’
“Has she sold those principles for a stake in the Northern Ireland Executive or is she prepared to do the right thing and object to the fact the biggest financial scandal in the history of devolved government is not on the Executive`s agenda?”
