Executive need to stop acting like angsty teenagers – Philip Smith MLA

- We still have no Budget or Brexit plan

- Executive telling tales on each other is cringe-worthy

Philip Smith MLA said:

“The DUP & Sinn Fein have been quick to claim they are the victims of “trial by media”, yet they seem perfectly content to conduct Executive business over the airwaves.  Listening to the Finance Minister’s interview this morning on what engagement he has had with the Economy Minister on the fall-out from the RHI debacle was cringe-worthy at best.  It is just a further demonstration of the dysfunctionality that the DUP and Sinn Fein expect the public to tolerate.

“Both Máirtín Ó Muilleoir and Simon Hamilton need to realise they are Ministers holding two of the most important portfolios in the Executive and stop acting like angsty teenagers.  While the public are watching over £400m of their money going up in smoke, the Finance and Economy Minsters are telling tales on each other.

“It would be easy to forget that we still don’t have a Budget, or indeed a plan to deal with the implications of Brexit.  But perhaps that is the Executive’s hope.

“Frankly, the people of Northern Ireland deserve better.  They were promised a fresh start, but they are being served up a fresh crisis.  It’s simply not good enough.”
