Corbyn must apologise for PMQs error - Elliott

Ulster Unionist MP, Tom Elliott has called on Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn to apologise for an error made during Prime Minister’s Questions, where he stated that a Police Officer shot and wounded on Sunday night had ‘lost his life’.

The Fermanagh & South Tyrone MP said:

“While it was the intent of dissident republican terrorists to take the life of the Police Officer shot and wounded in North Belfast on Sunday night, thankfully they did not succeed, and I wish the Officer involved a full and speedy recovery.

“For the Leader of the Opposition not to be aware of the details and utter that the Officer had ‘lost his life’ is a huge error, which I fear reflects a disinterest or lack of knowledge in Northern Ireland affairs.

“This incident could have caused undue stress to the injured Police Officer and his family, I therefore call on Jeremy Corbyn to publicly apologise for the remarks.”
