Ulster Unionists express deep regret at death of Lady Faulkner

Ulster Unionist Leader Tom Elliott has expressed his sincerest condolences following the passing of Lady Lucy Faulkner, widow of Brian Faulkner, the last Prime Minister of Northern Ireland.

Mr Elliott said;

“Lady Faulkner was a journalist and also secretary to Lord Brookeborough before marrying her husband. She later became the first woman to serve as National Governor of the BBC in Northern Ireland and made a tremendous contribution to public life in Northern Ireland.

Lady Faulkner also provided tremendous support to her husband during his political career which obviously included some of the most turbulent years of the troubles in the early 1970s.

On behalf of the Ulster Unionist Party I would like to express sincerest condolences and our thoughts are with Lady Faulkner’s family circle at this sad time.”
