• DUP attempting to whip unionists into state of perpetual fear
• They refuse to answer questions because of role in RHI scandal
• A DUP/Sinn Fein government would mean more failure

Doug Beattie MC, Ulster Unionist Assembly candidate for Upper Bann, said:

“The DUP are clearly desperate and are attempting to whip the unionist electorate into a state of perpetual fear. Let`s be honest, the DUP don`t care about the future of Northern Ireland at this present time. The only thing they care about is their own future and saving their own skins. They are up to their necks in scandal and can`t shake it off. It doesn`t matter who leads the DUP, it is still the same old story – the party comes first.

“Instead of scare mongering why don`t they tell the people what they are going to do about the RHI scandal, clearly explain their role in it and where they are going to get the money from to replace the £85,000 per day currently going up in smoke?

“That`s why they refused to answer any questions today at the DUP manifesto launch. Their position is indefensible and their record shameful. People should not buy the DUP snake oil at this election.

“The DUP`s record is clear for all to see. With Paisley, you got Sinn Fein, with Robinson you got Sinn Fein and with Foster last May you got Sinn Fein. If people swallow the same lies from the DUP again which denigrate other unionists, they`ll end up with the DUP and Sinn Fein back together. That will mean more scandal, more failure and Northern Ireland on a downward spiral of despair. The pair of them have driven the political institutions into the ground. They are the problem, not the solution.  

“The electorate have the power at this election to create a better Northern Ireland for everyone. If they want change for the better, that means voting Ulster Unionist on 2nd March.”
