Lessons must be learnt from Pseudomonas endemic – McCallister

Ulster Unionist Health spokesperson John McCallister MLA has said that lessons must be learnt from the recent outbreak of Pseudomonas at the Royal Victoria Hospital which claimed the lives of three babies.

John said:

“The events of the last week have been extremely tragic and it is vital that the Department of Health does everything it can to ensure that this does not happen again.’

“In the future it is important that regulations are put in place to make sure that if there is an indication that Pseudomonas is present in a hospital building it is eradicated immediately.  In this case unfortunately it was left for too long, leading to the endemic doctors and nurses on the neo-natal ward were faced with last week.’
