Chambers appeals for public to contact Police in wake of Bangor murder

North Down Ulster Unionist MLA Alan Chambers has urged members of the pubic to contact Police with any information regarding yesterday’s callous murder of a man outside a busy Bangor supermarket.

Alan Chambers said:

"Bangor is still in shock following yesterday’s cold-blooded and reckless murder of a man in a busy supermarket car-park.  I therefore welcome the fact that the Police will be stepping up patrolling in the Bangor area to provide re-assurance for the public.

“Having spoken to the local Police commander, I know that the Police have already received an overwhelming response from the general public following this callous murder, and I would expect nothing less from the Bangor community.

“However, I would appeal to anyone who was anywhere in the vicinity of Sainsbury’s in Bangor yesterday afternoon, to contact the Police. It may be that a member of the public saw something in the run up to this dreadful incident and does not realise that what they saw was significant. It is essential that they come forward at once to help the police catch whoever was responsible.

“The tragic reality is that a child witnessed this brutal murder and has now been left without a father. My sympathy goes out to the family of the dead man.”
