Ulster Unionist leader, Robin Swann MLA has welcomed the contribution from local Church Leaders who have encouraged local parties to strike a deal to restore devolution.
Ulster Unionist leader, Robin Swann MLA said:
“I welcome the latest contribution from the Church Leaders. I agree with the sentiments they express in their letter and my Party and I will do what we can in the coming days to ensure that an effective, working Executive and Assembly are re-established as soon as possible.
“A deal has been done in London, it`s now time to complete a deal in Belfast. With the publication of the agreement between the Conservatives and the DUP there can be no excuses for not getting down to business. Some hard talking will have to done in the next few days but there`s certainly no more room for grandstanding.
“Northern Ireland has big challenges ahead, from tackling health waiting lists and stretched school budgets to supporting community groups and sustaining our agriculture industry after Brexit. I hope that these political talks will deliver progress for the most vulnerable in our society which the Church Leaders have reflected on.”
