Danny Kinahan today joined relatives of those murdered in the 1982 Hyde Park bomb to mark the 35th Anniversary of the IRA atrocity.
Danny Kinahan said:
“I was honoured to be part of a memorial service to mark the 35th anniversary of the Hyde Park Bomb. The IRA atrocity killed four members of the Blues & Royals and seven horses, while later that day a second bomb was detonated at Regent’s Park killing seven bandsmen of the Royal Green Jackets.
“This is a case that is very close to my heart as my friend Lt Anthony Daly was one of those murdered at Hyde Park. Within a matter of weeks, I was both the best man at his wedding and then commanded his burial party.
“The poignant service today was a reminder of the importance that those responsible for this heinous act face justice. The families of the victims have been locked in a battle to bring civil court action against the chief suspect, John Downey.
“To make this possible they are raising money online to help fund the case. They need to have £85,000 by August to continue with proceedings, but they are currently just over £22,000 short of that target.
“I would appeal to the public to get behind the campaign and support the families of those killed in the Hyde Park bomb. On Saturday, Armed Forces veterans will march in London in support of the justice campaign and I hope that this will bring greater awareness of the campaign and, with it, further support for the fund.
“To those who have already so generously pledged support, I would ask that they raise awareness of fund amongst their friends and family so the campaign can continue in the pursuit of justice.
“The families have campaigned so tirelessly and they deserve to see justice done in a court of law.”
