Nicholson Welcomes £150million Belfast Investment Programme

Ulster Unionist MEP Jim Nicholson has welcomed the announcement by Belfast City Council that £150million is to be invested in capital projects in Belfast over the next three years as part of a £233 million investment programme.

Mr Nicholson said, “In these difficult economic times Belfast must be able to compete on the global stage for investment, conferences, tourists and new business to come to the city. This investment in infrastructure announced by the City Council will help Belfast compete with other major European cities in these lucrative markets. Having struggled for many years due to the troubles Belfast has become a truly cosmopolitan city and a prime destination to live in, to visit and to do business in.

With this investment Belfast will be able to build upon the excellent work already undertaken. As an MEP for Northern Ireland I will do all can to help ensure the £50 million required from European funding as part of this overall investment is secured.”
