Focus needs to be on safety and welfare of Ashbrooke Care Home residents

  • Unprecedented action by RQIA (Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority)
  • Focus should be on safety and welfare of residents
  • Need to minimise disruption to residents and their families

Rosemary Barton, Ulster Unionist MLA for Fermanagh and South Tyrone, said:

“I am very concerned to hear that the RQIA have been forced to seek the closure of Ashbrooke Care Home in Enniskillen. It is unprecedented for the RQIA to take such forthright action and my immediate concern is for the residents. This will be a traumatic experience for them and their families.

“The focus of everyone should now be on the safety and welfare of the residents so that they can be relocated as soon as possible in a way that minimises the disruption to their lives and those of their families. I want to see the full co-operation of Runwood Homes with the Western Health and Social Care Trust in addressing the serious issues identified during the unannounced inspection.”
