Ulster Unionists condemn cowardly attack on family home in Banbridge

Ulster Unionist MLA for Upper Bann, Doug Beattie MC and local Councillors, Alderman Elizabeth Ingram and Alderman Ian Burns, have reacted with shock and dismay at the news of yet another attack on a home in Banbridge late last night.

Doug Beattie MC MLA said:

“I will be meeting with the PSNI to discuss what can be done to address the escalation of such attacks on people’s homes in the Banbridge area over the last few months in particular. If this is a matter of resource, it must be tackled at the source.  A young child of only 8 years of age has been left traumatised by this when she should be safe in her own home.

“If anyone has any information that can aid the PSNI please contact them by phoning 101 and help put a stop to this.”

Banbridge Ulster Unionist Councillor, Elizabeth Ingram BEM, has also expressed her shock at the pure callousness of this attack on a family home.

“It is horrifying to think that a young child has been left in a state of fear and shock.  It was pure callousness. There is quite obviously a need for an increased PSNI presence in the town.

“This is becoming a matter of urgency before someone is seriously injured or worse.  It is shocking that people cannot feel safe in their own homes.

Alderman Ian Burns MBE said:

“This was a despicable evil crime. I visited the family and they are traumatised by what happened. The cowards who carried out this attack need to be caught and serve a long custodial sentence. If they are prepared to go to these cowardly lengths, how much further will they go if they are not caught?”
