Hussey visits Dunmullan Primary School

Ross Hussey West Tyrone Ulster Unionist MLA and Vice Chairman of Omagh District Council took the opportunity to hand deliver a written response to a young constituent recently.

Charlie Beattie, a year 7 pupil of Dunmullan Primary School wrote to Councillor Hussey to ask him what his favourite toy was when he was a child.  The School have planned to produce a collection of letters featuring the fond memories people have of a very special toy they had as a child.

Councillor Hussey said

“Charlie’s letter had an immediate impact in the office when it was received, and because he had taken the decision to choose me as his ‘chosen celebrity’ and I felt that the least I could do was to hand deliver my response and meet Charlie and his fellow pupils face to face.

Mrs Martin, the school principal, laid on a special Assembly and I was more than delighted to have the opportunity to meet the whole school. I was most impressed by the quality of their singing as they sang at the beginning of the Assembly and I was really impressed by the question and answer session that was held with the boys and girls.

I presented the school with a copy of the history of Parliament Buildings on the Stormont Estate and wish them every success in this venture, I understand that it is planned that the book will be published at Easter and I look forward to the launch and hope that all those that were written to respond and support the school. If you want to know how I answered Charlie’s question you will have to buy the book!”
