Ulster Unionist Finance spokesperson, Steve Aiken OBE MLA, has said that following the Prime Minister`s speech, the Republic of Ireland should be seeking to strengthen relationships with the United Kingdom.
Steve Aiken MLA said:
“The Prime Minister has made it clear that the EU is on a course for a much more integrated Europe. The Republic of Ireland is obviously on a course that brings into question their corporation tax, harmonisation of their business incentives and Irish neutrality.
“If ever there was a case, as we have called for, for the Republic of Ireland to be seeking special status and building a stronger relationship with a more vibrant United Kingdom, now is the time.”
