The Ulster Unionist Party’s Economy Spokesperson, Alan Chambers MLA, has welcomed the level of engagement between the UK and Canadian Governments to support Bombardier in its ongoing trade dispute with Boeing.
Alan Chambers MLA said:
“I welcome the assurances given in today’s statement in the House of Commons by the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Greg Clark, regarding Bombardier.
“I was particularly heartened to learn of the extent of contacts between the British and Canadian Governments and the praise for the role of the Trade Unions.
“It is impossible to over-estimate the importance of Bombardier to the Northern Ireland economy. The pressure simply has to be kept on and the UK Government, local political parties, business organisations and trade unions must ensure that anything that can be done is being done to protect the beating heart of Northern Ireland’s manufacturing industry.”
