EU intransigence will cause unnecessary harm to Northern Ireland - Nicholson

Ulster Unionist MEP Jim Nicholson has said that current EU intransigence is causing harm to Brexit negotiations and will create unnecessary harm to Northern Ireland.

Mr Nicholson said:

“The present soundings coming out of Europe seem to suggest that the European Commission are completely focused on extracting the maximum amount of money from the UK without any care of what impact their demands will have.

"It is evident that money is now firmly at the top of the EU’s agenda, and their failure to move on will cause further uncertainty and unnecessary harm to Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.

“We need a process where both sides are willing to try and get the best deal possible. At this moment in time I believe that willingness on behalf of the EU is not there.”
