Sinn Fein need to accept responsibility that comes with mandate – Swann

Ulster Unionist Party Leader, Robin Swann MLA, has said it is laughable that Sinn Fein now want to lay responsibility for resolving the current political deadlock at the doors of the UK and Irish Governments.

Robin Swann MLA said:

“It is clear that Sinn Fein have painted themselves into a corner and are now desperately looking to the two Governments to give them a hand.  The re-establishment of an Executive and Assembly is being delayed by red lines Sinn Fein have created themselves, they could resolve this deadlock today.

“The talks process has been going on for months now between the two largest parties and the two Governments, excluding the mandates of the other parties eligible to be part of any Executive.  To now want to lay the responsibility solely at the doors of the two Governments is laughable.

“We have spiralling waiting lists and education is in crisis.   It is time Sinn Fein accepted the responsibility that comes with the mandate they are quick to remind us all of and got the institutions back up and running.”
