McElduff reported to House of Commons Standards Committee and PSNI - Cllr Chris Smyth

Ulster Unionist Councillor Chris Smyth has strongly criticised the video posted on social media by Sinn Fein’s Barry McElduff MP on the anniversary of the Kingmills Massacre.

Councillor Smyth said:

“Mr McElduff who placed a loaf of Kingmills bread on his head appearing to mock and belittle Kingmills victims should face proper repercussions. A picture paints a thousand words and this picture perfectly captures the image of an antagonistic and bizarre MP with no respect for victims.

“I will be reporting the MP to the Commons Standards Committee. I will also be reporting him to the PSNI.

“How can our so called ‘Honourable Member of Parliament’ describe himself as honourable when he comes out with comments such as this?

“While Barry McElduff is known for his clowning about, this comment in which he appears to refer to the Kingmills Massacre on the anniversary of the atrocity was at best stupid and at worst evil.

“The Party that loves to spout the words Respect, Honesty and Integrity has clearly no respect for the families of those victims of Kingmills.

“Given recent comments from Sinn Fein about similar atrocities such as refusing to condemn the Enniskillen bomb I think the words of Sinn Fein will ring hollow in the public’s ears.”
