McElduff has exposed Sinn Féin’s ‘respect’ campaign as a sham - Swann

Ulster Unionist Leader, Robin Swann MLA, has stated that Sinn Fein MP Barry McElduff`s social media post has exposed Sinn Fein`s campaign allegedly based on rights, equality and respect, as a sham.

Robin Swann MLA said:

“The Kingsmill massacre was one of the most odious crimes against humanity in a long list of human rights abuses committed by the Provisional IRA during their murder campaign. Ten innocent men shot at the side of a country road because of their religion - because they were Protestants. For decades the leadership of the republican movement tried to deny the responsibility of the Provisional IRA in the sectarian murders.

“Not content with that, we now see a Sinn Fein MP, Barry McElduff, mocking the murders and his colleagues such as Máirtín Ó Muilleoir endorsing his social media posts. As a former Executive Minister, Máirtín Ó Muilleoir needs to explain himself. As a self-proclaimed social media guru he knew exactly what his ‘like & retweet’ signalled. He cannot escape the spotlight. And what has the leader of Sinn Fein in Northern Ireland, Michelle O`Neill, got to say about this? She has been conspicuously silent. It is beneath contempt that the sole survivor of the Kingsmills Massacre, Alan Black, and the families of the innocents murdered on that day should have to continue to endure pain at the hands of republicans 42 years later.

“Barry McElduff should apologise for the IRA atrocity at Kingsmills and then resign. He might hope to clown his way out of this, but everyone knows exactly what he was at and many know that he's not the fool he often plays. However this isn’t just about Barry McElduff. This is about Sinn Féin’s whole attitude and lack of respect to IRA murder victims and their families.

“What Barry McElduff has done is expose the Sinn Fein campaign based on rights, equality and respect for what it is - a sham. He is following in the footsteps of his Party President Gerry Adams who has made clear in the past that ‘equality’ is merely being used as a ruse to break the Unionist ‘b*******’.

“Sinn Fein might change their leaders in Northern Ireland and the Republic, they might change their President, but they’re still the same Sinn Fein - glorifying murderers and continuing to mock their victims. Whilst that attitude continues, and they continue to be pandered to there will be little hope of a better future for all our children.”
