The Ulster Unionist Party’s Fermanagh & South Tyrone MLA, Rosemary Barton, has called on the entire community to help the police catch the criminals responsible for a burglary in Aughnacloy which left an 83-year-old woman serious injured.
Rosemary Barton MLA said:
“I am absolutely disgusted to learn that four burglars broke into a house in Sydney Street in Aughnacloy around 9pm on Tuesday night and that as a result an 83-year-old woman was left fighting for her life in hospital.
“These are clearly very dangerous people who must be caught. People have a right to feel safe in their own homes without fear of anyone causing them harm and my thoughts are with the lady who was injured, and I hope she makes a full recovery.
“I know that the Police are treating the incident as attempted murder, and once these individuals are caught, it is imperative that the courts impose sentences that fit the seriousness of this crime.
“If anyone can help the Police to catch these people, I ask them to contact the police immediately. We simply cannot have people like this roaming the countryside.”
