Chambers welcomes exoneration of Chief Constable and senior PSNI officers following investigation

Ulster Unionist Policing Spokesperson Alan Chambers MLA has expressed his full confidence in the Chief Constable and the PSNI following an investigation which cleared the Chief Constable and senior officers of wrongdoing.

Alan Chambers MLA said:

“I welcome the fact that an investigation has cleared a number of senior PSNI officers - including the Chief Constable George Hamilton and his deputy Drew Harris- who faced 56 allegations, including criminal activity and misconduct in a public office.

“I note that the Chief Constable said he was ‘relieved but not surprised’ by the findings, in which every officer was fully exonerated on every allegation.

“As a former member of the RUC Reserve, I am well aware of the calibre of police officer that served in the RUC and that currently serves in the PSNI.

“I have full confidence in the Chief Constable and the PSNI, and I welcome the fact that this cloud has been lifted.”
