Smyth condemns brutal attack on woman in Strabane

Ulster Unionist Councillor Chris Smyth has condemned those responsible for a shocking attack on a woman in Strabane where she was assaulted by someone using a cordless drill.

Ulster Unionist Councillor Chris Smyth said:

“This was an absolutely brutal attack. It is hard to comprehend what goes through an individual’s head that they would attack a woman with a drill. It’s horrific - a despicable crime which I totally condemn.

“My thoughts are with the woman and her family. I hope that through time she can make a recovery after suffering such a vile attack.

“It’s vital that those responsible for this cowardly attack are removed from our streets as soon as possible and convicted in the courts, so I would appeal to the public, if you saw anything suspicious or have any information which you think may help the PSNI investigation, to contact the police immediately.

“Together we can beat those who use violence on our streets.”
