Ulster Unionist South Antrim MLA, Steve Aiken, has welcomed the Court of Appeal’s decision this morning that the Department for Infrastructure did not have lawful authority to grant planning permission for the proposed Hightown Incinerator.
Steve Aiken OBE MLA said:
“I welcome the Court of Appeal’s decision this morning. It supports the original court ruling that the Department for Infrastructure did not have lawful authority to grant planning approval and vindicates those who have campaigned against the incinerator.
“I congratulate all those who stood firm in their opposition to the Hightown Incinerator. It demonstrates the power the public can have. Following the rulings of two courts I hope that DFI will accept the decision that has been made and not pursue this any further.”
