Barnier must heed call for greater Brexit flexibility - Nicholson

Ulster Unionist MEP Jim Nicholson has welcomed comments from Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar that called for more flexibility from the EU on its red lines.

Jim Nicholson MEP said:

“I welcome the comments from Leo Varadkar today. It is in the interest of all parties that a good deal is agreed between the United Kingdom and the European Union. The proposal agreed at Chequers on Friday shows the Government’s willingness to deliver a workable Brexit, and the ball is now in the court of Michel Barnier to respond with an open mind.

“Leaders of the other EU member states, as well as Mr Barnier, would do well to heed Mr Varadkar’s call for a more flexible, pragmatic approach.”
