The Ulster Unionist Party’s East Belfast MLA, Andy Allen, has welcomed the announcement of £12 million investment as good news for Bombardier, good news for Belfast and good news for Northern Ireland.

“Today’s announcement by the Chancellor Philip Hammond of almost £12 million of funding for Bombardier is most welcome news.
“Bombardier is Northern Ireland’s largest manufacturing employer with thousands of staff based in and around Belfast, and is an absolutely key component of the local economy. Indeed, it is difficult to over-estimate the importance of Bombardier to not just East Belfast but the economic well-being of Northern Ireland plc.
“The Chancellor has acknowledged this and this investment will help fund the development of cutting-edge technology for modern aircraft which will not only secure jobs but ensure that the UK maintains its position as a leading manufacturer of high-tech aircraft components.
“This is good news for Bombardier, good news for Belfast and good news for Northern Ireland.”
