Swann condemns attack on North Antrim Orange Hall

Ulster Unionist Party Leader Robin Swann MLA has condemned a petrol bomb attack on an Orange Hall in Glarryford, North Antrim last night.

Robin Swann said:

“I have no doubt that whoever decided to throw a petrol bomb at the Duneaney Road Orange Hall in Glarryford on Monday, was motivated by hatred and bigotry and the desire to whip up community tensions and create divisions, which they can then exploit further.

“As with most rural Orange Halls, this is a community facility as well as a symbol of unionist culture an identity.

“The type of people who would attack such a building are motivated by fear as much as hate. They fear something which is different and are so insecure in their own identity and culture that they feel the need to attack anything which they do not regard as ‘theirs.’

“They need to be caught by the Police and punished by the courts because they have nothing to offer anyone in this society and are the enemies of everyone who wants to live and work together and deliver a better future for everyone.”
