Statement regarding East Belfast Football Club

Speaking after a public rally on Saturday, in support of East Belfast Football Club, Ulster Unionist Councillor, Alderman Sonia Copeland said:

“Following a rally organised by East Belfast Football Club, I met with club members and listened to their concerns, regarding how Belfast City Council had approached the matter, following a vote taken at the full council meeting of 2nd July 2018, during which an amendment to ‘accede’ to the clubs request was passed.

“I have undertaken to complete enquiries, which I have already commenced. It is important that the young people involved in the genuine good work being undertaken by East Belfast Football Club are not left feeling marginalised by the course followed by their own council, and I will endeavour to find a way forward for everyone.”
