Ulster Unionists support National Wear Red Day on 24th February

Ulster Unionist Party health spokesperson, John McCallister, has called for people to take part in National Wear Red Day on 24th February. The event, organised by the British Heart Foundation is aimed at promoting awareness of the charity, has launched a campaign including videos of the singer Rachel Stevens wearing red.

The South Down MLA commented;

“It is important for people to help this worthwhile charity to raise as much money as possible to help combat the effects of heart disease.”

“A simple way of doing this is to join the many others today who will be wearing red. The British Heart Foundation suggests wearing as little or as much red as you like, whether it is a red tie, necklace or head-to-toe ensemble, and to be as creative as possible.”

“The charity then also have a facility to upload photographs of red items being worn in order to further show your support.”

“The British Heart Foundation aims to reduce cardiovascular disease in the UK to one of the lowest levels in Europe within the next generation as well as other very ambitious goals and I suggest that everyone do as much as possible to try and promote awareness of their work.”
