McCrea welcomes plans for new University of Ulster campus in Belfast

Basil McCrea MLA, Chair of the Employment and Learning Committee, has described plans for the University of Ulster’s new York Street Campus as “breathtaking”.

The Ulster Unionist said:

“I am really impressed with the University of Ulster’s plans for the new York Street campus in Belfast.  It is wonderful news for North Belfast as it will bring a new vibrancy to this part of the City.’

“Having seen the plans for York Street it will be a highly impressive addition to Belfast City Centre and the building will provide our students will top class facilities.’

“The economic impact of not only the new York Street campus, but also of Belfast Met’s new E3 complex will see a major change in Belfast’s demographics.  It’s a very exciting time for all involved.’

“The new University of Ulster campus will provide a wonderful opportunity for young people to get the skills they need to compete in the highly competitive job market.’

“If everything runs smoothly we could see building begin by the end of the year.  I would congratulate the University of Ulster on this excellent venture and I know that the public will be as impressed as I am when the plans are officially unveiled next Thursday.’
