Corbyn's refusal to meet Theresa May on Brexit 'inexcusable' - Empey

Ulster Unionist Peer Lord Empey has described Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn’s refusal to meet with the Prime Minister for talks to plot a way forward on Brexit, as inexcusable.

Lord Empey said:

“Jeremy Corbyn has been happy to sit down and talk with terrorists throughout his political career, whether they be Hamas, the IRA or others. He says he wants a ‘no deal’ Brexit off the table before he sits down with the Prime Minister. He has also railed against Theresa May's so called 'red lines.'

“None of us want a ‘no deal’ Brexit, but for the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition to surround himself with a red line at this crucial stage is both inexcusable and indefensible.

“He should be prepared to sit down with the Prime Minister and see if he can contribute to a resolution of the current mess. Failure of Jeremy Corbyn to do so would be a dereliction of his duty.”
