South Down MLA John McCallister has condemned the robbery and assault which took place on the outskirts of Newry in which two elderly brothers were attacked and robbed in their own home near Lurganare Cross on Monday evening.
The Ulster Unionist representative said:
“This was a shocking and cowardly attack and I condemn it unreservedly. To attack two elderly and defenceless men and violate the safety of their own home in the process, is simply unforgiveable.
It is vital that the community unites to support these men and to assist the Police in detaining the persons responsible and ensuring that other innocent people are not made to suffer in this way.”
