Ulster Unionist Party Leader, Robin Swann MLA, has said that the UK Government cannot continue to look the other way while Northern Ireland remains in a state of political paralysis.
Robin Swann MLA said:
“As Westminster gears up for three days of crucial votes on the future direction of Brexit, the region of the United Kingdom which stands to be most affected by any negative repercussions remains in a state of political paralysis.
“Northern Ireland remains rudderless, with a Secretary of State who is seemingly content to allow Sinn Fein to veto any talks process and hold the entire country to ransom.
“It is incomprehensible that the UK Government is so preoccupied with fighting internal battles like ferrets in a sack that Northern Ireland is being allowed to wither on the vine.
“The reality is that the Executive will not be restored without fundamental reform. Currently we can’t even see the start of a process to make that happen while Sinn Fein intransigence is allowed to continue. The people of Northern Ireland are crying out for decision making and some sense of certainty. The Prime Minister, the Secretary of State and the NIO cannot continue to look the other way.”
