Ulster Unionists extend sympathies to victims of New Zealand terror attack

Belfast Ulster Unionist Councillor, Alderman Chris McGimpsey has extended his sympathies to the victims of the terror attack which took place on two Mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Alderman Chris McGimpsey said:

“The horrific events in New Zealand have shocked right thinking people throughout the world. It`s an unbelievable tragedy carried out by a twisted and evil mind.

“Northern Ireland has suffered dreadfully from violence but even those of us who lived through the worst days of the Troubles are genuinely shocked at the depth of hatred that is required to commit an act on this scale, whereby someone could enter a place of worship and murder 49 men, women and children without hesitation or mercy.

“This attack is proof that terrorism and hatred knows no colour or religion and is the enemy of all of us who want to live in peace and harmony. My deepest sympathies go out the families of all those who were murdered and I wish the injured a speedy and full recovery

“A book of condolence has opened at Belfast City Hall in memory of the victims. It is available to sign during normal City Hall opening hours and I urge people to go along and sign.”
