The Ulster Unionist Party Leader Steve Aiken OBE MLA said:
“Today, with both the Prime Minister and the Health Secretary reporting mild symptoms after testing positive, we have received further proof that the Coronavirus can strike anywhere and affect anyone.
“They are both self-isolating and following the advice of the Public Health Agency, and I wish them a speedy recovery.
“This reinforces the message that we must all follow the rules and restrictions and do all we can, both individually and collectively, to slow the spread of this dreadful virus and help to reduce the burden on our National Health Service.
“On another note, the very fact that the illness of anyone, in particular political leaders, has attracted so much vile comment on social media is utterly despicable. Surely now is the time for the Social Media industry to remove the mask of anonymity from the Trolls who lack the courage to comment in the open?
“We wish a swift recovery to all who are suffering from this horrible disease.
“Please stay at home, it’s never been easier to save a life”
