Ulster Unionist Party Health Spokesperson, Alan Chambers MLA, has welcomed the Health Minister’s announcement of a number of measures to help combat the impact of Covid-19 in Northern Ireland’s care homes.
Alan Chambers MLA said:
“£6.5m of increased funding, in conjunction with expansion of testing and the publication of revised guidance for care homes will help prevent infection, and protect residents.
“I have no doubt that the entire community will welcome these measures which will play an important role in helping protect some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
“I trust that people will take the time to study Robin Swann’s announcement carefully, and take comfort from the fact that he is taking decisive action to help protect the vulnerable from this pernicious virus.
“We must all heed the advice of experts and fulfill our responsibilities to save lives and ease the burden on our health service. I fully endorse the Prime Minister’s words this morning when he said that we must not ‘throw away’ the public's ‘effort and sacrifice’ and relax the lockdown too soon. We must all show patience and forebearance and together we will beat this virus.”
