The Ulster Unionist Party Leader, Steve Aiken OBE MLA, has congratulated all the Party’s representatives who have been selected to serve as Mayors, Chairs and Deputies in local government for the forthcoming year.
Steve Aiken OBE MLA said:
“The Ulster Unionist Party has a long and proud tradition of public service. I never fail to be impressed by the calibre of people who come forward to stand for election as councillors and who want to make a positive contribution to their local communities.
“As the Nation deals with the impact of the Coronavirus, it is more important than ever that steady leadership and a calming influence is provided right across Northern Ireland, and I have no doubts whatsoever that Ulster Unionist representatives will step up to the mark.
“It is a genuine source of pride that so many Ulster Unionists will hold key roles in local government in seven of our councils in 2020/21, which is sure to be a momentous year in which we will mark the centenary of the creation of Northern Ireland.
“I am confident that each and every one of them will uphold the best traditions of the Party and will fulfil their roles with the same dignity and diligence as those who have gone before them. I wish each and every one of them a successful and memorable year in office.”
