Sinn Fein shouldn`t be immune to Covid-19 guidelines whether they are in Northern Ireland or the Republic – Aiken

Ulster Unionist Leader, Steve Aiken OBE MLA, said:

“What are Mary Lou McDonald, Michelle O’Neill, Conor Murphy and Pearse Doherty going to do given that one of Sinn Fein`s TDs in the Irish Parliament has called for the resignation of politicians who breach Covid-19 guidelines? Waterford TD David Cullinane was very clear and unambiguous. He believes that those who set the guidelines and then break them, should resign, even if they didn`t realise they were doing it.

“Sinn Fein certainly aren`t in any position to jump on their very high, hypocritical horse to condemn politicians who broke Covid-19 guidelines in the Republic, given the actions of Mary Lou McDonald, Michelle O`Neill, Conor Murphy, Pearse Doherty and multiple other Sinn Fein politicians who broke Covid-19 guidelines when they attended Bobby Storey`s funeral. They still have time to do the right thing, do what David Cullinane has said and resign.

“Politicians from all parties are not immune from the rule of law or Covid-19 regulations and guidelines, whether they are in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland. And that should include Sinn Fein if they have any integrity. That remains very much open to question.”
