The Ulster Unionist Party’s Justice Spokesperson, Doug Beattie MC MLA, has welcomed the announcement that the Executive Office has designated the Department of Justice to administer the long-awaited Victims’ Payment Scheme.
Doug Beattie MC MLA said:
“The news that the Executive Office has designated the Department of Justice to administer the Victims Payment Scheme will come as a huge relief to many people.
“The behaviour of Michelle O’Neill and Sinn Fein has been unforgiveable. Her integrity is holed below the waterline. That it took a High Court judge to have to force her to act on this matter should be a source of eternal shame.
“Now that we finally have a department designated to administer the scheme, it is time to move on, adhere to the law and act swiftly to ensure that the innocent victims receive the pension they deserve.”
