Swann urges Northern Ireland public to share in Olympic excitement

The Ulster Unionist spokesperson for culture, arts and leisure, Robin Swann MLA, has congratulated those who have been selected to take part in the Olympic Torch Relay which will travel round Northern Ireland in June and urged the Ulster public to get involved by supporting the event.

The North Antrim representative said:

"The announcement of the details of the route to be taken around Northern Ireland by the Olympic torch in early June really marks the beginning of the countdown to the 2012 games.

The Olympic torch relay is a unique spectacle which allows all parts of the UK to feel involved in the London games and I am confident that the people of Northern Ireland will play their part in getting involved by showing their support for the torch bearers as the flame makes its way through our streets in June.

I congratulate everyone, from all walks of life in Northern Ireland, who have been selected to take part in the relay and I wish all those involved in planning for this event well in their remaining preparations over the weeks ahead."
