NI Executive should be active participants in UK wide review of transport connections - Beggs

Ulster Unionist Party Infrastructure spokesperson, Roy Beggs MLA, has welcomed the Prime Minister`s announcement of a review into transport connections across the UK and called for the NI Executive and Minister for Infrastructure to be active participants.

Mr Beggs said:

“The Prime Minister`s announcement of a UK wide review into transport connections is welcome. It`s more important than ever that we look at connections across our nation as we strive to make the UK infrastructure ready for the future.

“There will be differences in priorities, but it`s vital that we start the conversations now. Just because we may have differences in priorities doesn`t mean that we shouldn`t participate positively in those discussions. We could start by ensuring there is no border in the Irish Sea, ending domestic Air Passenger Duty, developing low or no emission ferries or improving the substandard A75 and A77 roads which serve Cairnryan Port.

“The NI Executive and Minister for Infrastructure should be active participants in these conversations.”
