Kinahan calls on Belfast International Airport to reconsider Airport Police cuts

South Antrim MLA, Danny Kinahan has called on Belfast International
Airport to reconsider their planned  cut backs the number of Airport
Police.

The Ulster Unionist said:

“If the Airport must cut the number of police let's make sure that it
is necessary, proportionate and as a last resort.  I would like to
seek some clarification over the opportunities for re-employment and
if the PSNI can adequately cover the losses should there be an attack
on the Airport.  At a time when the terrorism level in the UK remains
at severe, it is vital that our airports have adequate protection.’

“We need to ensure that a full and proper assessment of the Airport’s
security needs takes place on a regular basis.  I would also like to
know what plans have been put in place to re-strengthen the police
force at the Airport should the threat level increase.’

“It is vital that we ensure that the public are not placed in any
danger , so I call on the airport to rethink the cutbacks.’
