Chambers welcomes free car parking for NHS staff

The Ulster Unionist Party’s representative on the Stormont Health Committee, Alan Chambers MLA, has warmly welcomed the Health Minister’s decision to instruct the Health & Social Care Trusts to immediately provide free car parking to HSC staff until 31 March next year.

Alan Chambers MLA said:

“Once again my Ulster Unionist colleague and Minister of Health Robin Swann MLA has shown his commitment to doing what he can to protect the welfare of the HSC staff who are all on the front line in the fight against the Covid19 virus.

“The Minister has repeatedly shown how much he values NHS staff and the jobs they do as they work to keep us all safe. I am therefore very pleased that he has secured funding to enable him to provide free car parking for HSC staff through the winter months until the end of March next year.

“Given the additional demands on family budgets over the Christmas period the Minister’s actions will hopefully help staff to have some more money to spend on their families. It may only appear to be a small token but is a heartfelt gesture from a Minister that values the entire staff working in every strand of our Health and Social Care sector.

”As a society we should all be doing everything we can to make life a bit easier for NHS staff, and free car parking may be a small gesture, but nonetheless it is a well-deserved and I’m sure it will be appreciated.”
