Vital to use days ahead to plan for additional business support in event of future restrictions – Stewart

Ulster Unionist Economy spokesperson, John Stewart MLA, has called for the Departments for Finance and Economy to use the next ten days to put effective planning in place to support businesses affected by Coronavirus restrictions.

John Stewart MLA said:

“There are less than two weeks left until the Executive`s current Coronavirus restrictions are due to end. It is more vital than ever that the Departments of Finance and Economy use that time to put extensive work into planning to put further support measures for businesses in place to address any possibility of restrictions continuing or being brought in at a later stage.

“We don`t want a repeat of the last-minute scramble to put financial support schemes in place and distribute the relevant information to those that need it, which was what happened when these current restrictions were announced.

“Many businesses were left in no-man’s land, not knowing what financial assistance would be available and when they could access it. This can be fixed, but it requires joined up government to do it.”
