Ulster Unionist MLA Ross Hussey has welcomed the publication of the new Policing Plan by the PSNI.
The West Tyrone MLA, who also represents his Party on the Policing Board, said:
"I welcome the publication of the Policing Plan, the template for
policing in Northern Ireland for the next three years. One year ago
a young Police Officer from Omagh paid with his life for daring to make a difference and stepping forward to serve and protect the entire community.
Constable Ronan Kerr was typical of the men and women who we rely on to put on a uniform to do what is a difficult and at times dangerous job, and our gratitude is due to each and every one of them.
It is easy for such plans and reports to be regarded as abstract documents with little relevance to the lives of ordinary people, but this is not the case.
This Policing Plan maps out the policing priorities for the 2012- 2015 period and sets out the desired outcomes , indicators and measures for the PSNI to achieve as they seek to increase the level of public confidence and satisfaction in Policing.
It is essential that the Police receive the full support of the public as they go about their duties, and it is essential that the Police demonstrate professionalism in return.
We ask a great deal of our Police Officers and the very least they deserve is our support."
