The IRA murders of Sir Norman Stronge and James Stronge were a heinous and callous crime - Aiken

“The IRA murders of Sir Norman Stronge and James Stronge were a heinous and callous crime against two defenceless men. They represented all that was good about Northern Ireland as they went about their everyday lives as normal, just like the vast majority of the people of Northern Ireland, despite the onslaught of a terrorist campaign.

“Sir Norman was a veteran of the First World War and fought in the trenches of the Somme. His son James followed in the footsteps of his Father in military and public service. Their service stands as a testament to their courage compared to the cowardly actions of the evil men who ended their lives.

“The brutal IRA gang murdered two good men, who had given so much in the service of their country and then to compound the evil they committed, the terrorists set fire to their home.

“Forty years on our thoughts are with the Stronge family who suffered such grievous loss. We will never forget and we will continue to remember them and others who were murdered by terrorists.

“Their killers are still out there and like so many other families in Northern Ireland, they have never received justice.”
