UUP Leader Steve Aiken OBE MLA said:
“The DUP’s leadership has been an absolute disaster for pro-union politics. They have lost the pro-union majority at Stormont and placed Northern Ireland on the window ledge of the Union through the disastrous NI Protocol because they were dazzled by the bright lights during their time propping up the Conservative Government. They have proven themselves totally incapable of providing the leadership required to maintain Northern Ireland’s place as an integral part of the United Kingdom.
“Having spent much of the last twenty years focused on destroying other unionists at the cost of the Union, they have clearly now turned their attention inward and are now pulling themselves apart. Meanwhile, the Ulster Unionist Party will concentrate on offering a progressive, pro-union alternative to the DUP.”
