Time to acknowledge the contribution of the Health Service staff and those who have rolled out the vaccination programme - Chambers

The Ulster Unionist Party’s Health Spokesperson, Alan Chambers MLA, has urged everyone to acknowledge the efforts of the health service staff and all those involved in the roll out of the vaccine programme.

Alan Chambers said:

“After a very successful and labour intensive vaccination programme it is important that we place on record our appreciation of the efforts of all the staff concerned, under the leadership of Ms Patricia Donnelly, and to acknowledge the very significant contribution they have all made in helping fight this pandemic. It was a truly mammoth undertaking and they have done us all proud.

“I also commend all those who have been double jabbed along with those who continue to come forward to be vaccinated.

“The announcement by Health Minister Robin Swann MLA that the vaccine will now be made available to young people between the ages of 12 and 15 will offer protection to this cohort and help reduce transmission rates of the virus.

“The additional announcement of a booster jab to those over 50 years of age will be a further challenge to our hard pressed health staff but it is one I am confident they will rise to meet, and I know that the booster will be welcomed by those eligible to receive it, as an additional piece of protection against Covid.”
