Hussey welcomes Policing Board findings of increased confidence in the Police

Ulster Unionist MLA Ross Hussey has welcomed the findings of a Policing Board survey that community confidence in the Police is on the increase.

The West Tyrone MLA who represents his Party on the Policing Board, said

“This report contains good news for the Police and demonstrates that the vast majority of people wish to see progress towards a peaceful and law-abiding society.

Throughout the world, the best practice of Policing is Policing by consent and to see 84% of people – an increase of 4 per cent from the September 2010 survey - have at least some confidence in the Police, indicates that the entire community is supportive of the PSNI.

This is the only way forward for communities throughout Northern Ireland. The Police need the assistance of local people in order to make communities safe and to remove criminals and criminal gangs from their midst.”
