Elliott calls on McGuinness to recognise the human aspect of all victims

Ulster Unionist Party Justice spokesperson Tom Elliott has called on Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness to accept that all the victims of the troubles and their families were good people.

Mr Elliott said: “I fully accept and agree with the remarks that Nuala Kerr and Kate Carroll are good people, so to are the families of soldiers Patrick Azimkar and Mark Quinsey who were murdered at Antrim.

“This is of course also relevant to the thousands murdered during the troubles by the Provisional IRA, which of course Mr McGuinness was a central part of.

“I do of course welcome the limited recognition by Mr McGuinness and his comrades of the futility of murder. However he needs to go further and accept the wrongs of his and his fellow terrorists actions. This would help with the progress of the building of a better Northern Ireland for everyone.”
