Elliott urges OFMdFM to act swiftly to approve local Council funding applications to celebrate The Queen’s Jubilee

Ulster Unionist MLA Tom Elliott has called on the OFMdFM to act swiftly to approve funding applications so that local Councils can finalise their plans for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The Fermanagh & South Tyrone representative said:

“Over two weeks ago I received queries from a number of Ulster Unionist Councillors asking why some local Councils have not received their funding letter of offer regarding community relation plan. A number of these plans include Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and there was great concern that if the letters of offer did not arrive soon, then it would be too late for these projects. I contacted the Community Relations Council and was informed that funds for District Council Community Relations plans are administered directly from OFMdFM.

I have still not received a response from the OFMdFM, and bearing in mind that we are now approaching the Jubilee weekend, I would urge that this matter be treated with the utmost urgency so that local Councils can finalise their plans to join in this National Celebration of Her Majesty’s sixty years on the throne.”
